Fldigi Software

SoftwareFldigi Software

Fldigiis a computer program intended for Amateur Radio Digital Modes operation using a PC (Personal Computer). Fldigi operates (as does most similar software) in conjunction with a conventional HF SSB radio transceiver, and uses the PC sound card as the main means of input from the radio, and output to the. Fldigi is a modem program for most of the digital modes used by radio amateurs today: CW, PSK, MFSK, RTTY, Hell, DominoEX, Olivia, and Throb are all supported. It can help calibrate a sound card to a time signal and do frequency measurement tests.

Step by Step setup for Fldigi

Fldigi Windows 10 Setup

I have struggled with Fldigi setup for about a week. Downloaded the controller from Yaesu to the laptop with the Fldigi software. I can control the frequencies on the transceiver from the laptop and the waterfall does display, too. But the rest does not function. Is there a step by step setup instructions for the FTdx 101d to run Fldigi? I have seen a very good one for FTdx3000 setup instructions online, but some instructions do not match the 101D. I am sure I am not setting all the settings correctly in the 101D to handle Fldigi.

Once you are satisfied that you have FLDIGI configured and working, I would like more about the individual SETTINGS IN THE SOFTWARE for performance. I personally have found it a bit of a pain. The freq that appears on the radio is not where the software says the radio is. So, the question is always, which one is right? - Mike

Lele is very helpful for FLDIGI interface with FTDX-101 radios. His call is IZ1UKX and he is good on QRZ

Thanks, just found it, It looks like there are a lot of hams having the same problems in setup, too. Now I know I am not alone. He does answer a few of the question I have on setup. I will work on the settings he has given in the next couple of days. The advertisements for the 101D sounded like the rig was easy to setup for digital than most on the market, LOL. I really don't want to experiment on setup using a new rig on unproven setup procedure for digital. When I tried to installed HRD (30 day trial) and press tune it would shut down the whole rig, Found out later the connection cable picks up too much RF and shuts it down. So, I stopped experimenting with HRD and now on Fldigi. Reminds me back in 1983 when I had a new Drake TR5 setup for Kantronics RTTY. Every thing seem to be setup right and it worked flawless. Then every few months the rig had to sent to the shops for repair due to blown resistors. Then I got a call from Drake repairman, saying if we install a factory fan in the rig, none of this would be happening. He was right, no problems after the fan was installed to run RTTY. Later they put it in the manual.

Very good. I encourage you to email him direct and he will send you images of what settings he has on the radio as well as his computer.
I was having similar concerns in the past, and with his settings everything works FB.

Hi Joe.
I'm here.
I suggest you to install flrig.
This takes care of acting as a link between any radio (including 101) and fldigi.
Here are the settings for FLRig and FLDigi:

If you also need to know how to set up the radio, just let me know. I'll give you two screenshots of the 101.
However, the configuration is very simple:
CAT via USB
Baudrate: 38400
DTR or RTS for usb keying of your choice (I use DTR). It is sufficient that the same setting is on the radio and on FLdigi.
ATTENTION: Everything must be set on flrig for the conversation with the radio. Only the CW keying must be set on fldigi as in the following photo:

Don't pay attention to the different graphics. I use mac, but fldigi and flrig are the same.
When you are up and running, let me know. If you are using CW keying, using windows, you need to check and maybe, a little fix for everything to work correctly.
Let me know.

This is exactly the information I need....I am not sure how Lele information made it here on the reply (direct or Joe), Yes I would like, 'If you also need to know how to set up the radio, just let me know. I'll give you two screenshots of the 101'. This would help me verify my settings on the 101D. I am sure information like this would encourage more owners of the Yaesu FTdx 101D to try fldigi and firig. Thank you Lele and Joe.

I went ahead and sent Lele an email. If I receive the screen shots of the 101D, I will post it for others to see the setup.

Sorry Ed. I wasn't actually answering Joe, but you ... unfortunately without knowing your name ... before receiving the email ...
The answer was really directed to you, I just confused me pointing to Joe, whom I greet and thank.

As required, below I attach photos of the radio configuration.
The photos below only show the settings useful for configuring the radio to communicate with the PC and its relative PTT.

In the zip file instead, you will find the complete collection of screenshots of my radio settings.
ATTENTION: In the .zip file you will not find the 'CORRECT' settings, but you will find 'MY' settings.

Lele, I tried the settings and transmitting worked very good last night, I have not been able to do that until I followed your instructions. One problem in receiving on the 101D is that I get mixed letters/script that do not mean any thing. It might be the speed control I did not set up right. I am not sure how to control that. On the mode key which is a button on the rig, do I set it for PSK,>#4948

Since the modulation by FLDigi is always an audio modulation, the radio must be set in characters you receive, are you referring to decoding via FLDigi or direct decoding of 101?
Regarding the decoding of the 101, if you do not set the speed very close to that of your interlocutor it does not decode anything. Personally it does not satisfy me.
You say you have to refine the settings for example for the PSK31 ..... why? What's wrong with PSK?
Now I throw a stone into the pond ...
Now that the FT8, FT4 etc system is so fashionable, you ............. did you know that FLRig also interfaces directly with WSJT-X?
You can keep FLDigi and WSJT-X open at the same time and use the program that interests you at your convenience. Both will refer to FLRig for CAT and PTT management.

I’am strugling to set fldigi on my macbook.
MagloggerDX is working / WSJT-X is working / JT bridge is working.
The only thing that i cannot get working is FLdigi not with FLrig of FLdigi standalone.
i was using a IC7610 before a that was working very good with FLdigi on the Mac.
But the FTDX101D i can’t get it working.
i use FLrig 1.3.53 and FLdigi 4.1.18 and Catalina as OS.
Must i use tcpip or not .
setup in FLrig
Rig : ftdx101D
/dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART4
Baud 38400
1 stopbit
RTS/CTS on
tcpip is off

Why i doesn’t make a connection.?
Who can help me because i ran into nuts.

#6719

Just find out that when i use rigcat with the ft-101 XML file i get FLdigi working.
The only thing is that on the power meter there is in RTTY not a steady output power.
Don’t know if this is normal in RTTY or not.
In PSK its more steady.
Ore is there any other program for MacOS that can do RTTY of PSK?
#6720

No longer Maurice !
Unfortunately the old and wonderful Cocoamodem doesn’t work anymore with recent macOS versions.
FLDIGI it’s mandatory for RTTY and PSK for Mac users… as far as I know
