Prime Summary:

Love, Rosie is a heart-warming, modern comedy-of-errors about Rosie and Alex. As each navigates the complexities of life, love, and everything in between, they always find their way back to each other - but is it just friendship, or something more?

FYA Summary:

Childhood friends and neighbords Rosie and Alex have been inseparable since they were wee tots, but as they've gotten older (and hotter) their feelings have gotten WAY more complicated. Not that either one of them is willing to admit it. When their plans to go to college in Boston together are derailed, their lives take two hugely different turns. As they experience all the major ups and downs that life can throw at them (and I do mean MAJOR), they grow apart, but when they're occasionally reunited, they're reminded that no one ~gets~ them quite like they get each other, no matter how different their lives have become. Also they are totally in love with each other but will never admit it and it will have you screaming at your TV!!!!!!!!!

Familiar Faces:

Lily Collins as Rosie

Daughter of Phil Collins and maybe prettiest person on the planet, Lily Collins, plays Rosie who is supposed to be a little bit of a nerdy loser despite having distractingly good eyebrows. I really thought that Lily Collins had been in so much stuff, but a cursory glance at her IMDB tells me that she actually hasn't? They tried with that Mortal Instruments movie, and she's been in a couple of other flops, like the Snow White retelling Mirror, Mirror. It's as if Hollywood is trying to make her a huge star but something about it just isn't sticking. Do YOU PEOPLE NOT SEE HER EYEBROWS?

Sam Claflin as Alex

Our boy, Sam, however, has had a better go of it. We know him of course as Finnick from The Hunger Games (sobs) movies, but he's also been in a ton of other successful movies and shows, including Me Before You, Snow White and the Huntsman, Peaky Blinders, etc. As Alex, I don't want to say that he's perfectly boring but he IS, you know...a very straightforward rom-com guy. Obviously in love with Rosie and still infuriating when he dates other people despite that. But Sam is so loveable that I still rooted for him even when I wanted to say, 'really dude?'

Couch-Sharing Capability: Low

My husband *literally* walked in while I was watching this, squinted at the TV for a minute, then turned around and walked back out. There's really no disguising this as anything but a soft focus, sticky-sweet, romantic tear-jerker with a lovely British backdrop.

Recommended Level of Inebriation: High

If any movie is going to manipulate my emotions, I'm going to be white wine hammered while I watch it. Period.

Use of Your Streaming Subscription: Bad Rom-Com Binge

Have you ever watched a bad rom-com like, say, Leap Year staring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode, and thought, 'Yes, I would like more of that please.' Because I certainly have. And this is exactly what you need when you're in that sort of mood. It reminded me a bit of movies like One Day or About Time in that it's billed as a rom-com but also specifically designed to make you cry. So sweet it'll rot your teeth.
