there is one thing that isnt really true about phase 2, onyxia does not cast fireball on random targets resetting their threat, she casts it on the highest threat player, however if there is 1 player standing close to the player that gets fireballed the threat does not reset. so normally when onyxia goes into phase 2 and starts flying she wil cast fireball on the tank first resetting his agro.
now if you have another player stand close to the tank at all times this would mean the tank would never lose agro as the second player would keep losing threat. this can work to your advantage to make sure the tank can really easely pick up onyxia during phase 3 when she lands since the tank (if everything is done correctly) would not have lost any agro at all during phase 2.
this also makes it a whole lot easier for healers since they only need to heal 2 targets (the tank and the person standing close to the tank) and not the entire raid.
with this tactic you can also have the person standing close to the tank decked out in fire resistance gear so that he takes reduced damage.

You essentially have two ways to killing her: Properly manage everyone's aggro, or completely unload onto her in Phase 3 before she can kill all DPS. I prefer the first option.
The way we play it is somewhat convoluted, but it just works. Phase 1, only Melee are allowed to dps, and only slightly, no cooldowns or anything, just moderate damage. The second tank tries to keep up with the other warriors, ideally being just below them in threat. Range-DPS just sit and watch, maybe take care of some whelps if necessary, but no damage on the boss whatsoever. If you are on Horde, put your shamans with the caster groups and have them lay down Tranquil Air totems throughout the rest of the fight. The exception to all of this are hunters and rogues who can go all out throughout the entire fight, since they can just reset their aggro at the start of P3 anyway. Just make sure they don't reset before they absolutely need to, you want them to be high up in threat during P2.
As usual in Phase 2, everyone just burns her down as quickly as possible. In theory, your hunters and rogues should be the highest in threat, so they will get hit by the fireballs, having their aggro slightly lowered. What you don't want is your second tank to be hit. Depending on how much Range-DPS you have, you gonna hit P3 before that happens. Tanks should safe up all their Rage for P3.
When P3 starts, everyone needs to stop DPS except hunters and rogues, they should just reset their threat and continue dps-ing. You might have one or two ranges who pull aggro (usually it's the warlocks for us), just let them die. If a warrior besides one of your tanks has aggro, he should put on a shield, shield wall, and try to get Onyxia in position, either at the P1 position, or just near a wall in the area she landed. Don't try to drag her through your DPS and healers, her attacks will 1-shot them.
Your offtank (and ideally your other tank as well) should now use Recklessness to immune the fear, and deal maximum threat to get back aggro as quickly as possible, always standing in front of her for maximum Rage and so she doesn't turn around and cleave the raid. If you played P1 well, you should zoom past the DPS warriors in no time.
Even if everyone plays it well, there are so many variables that a clean kill is always a 50/50 thing for us. We always have some DPS die at the start to P3, either to aggro or standing/being feared into the cleave, and then there is also the Breath which might just wipe out half your raid ('I was standing safe, I swear!')

this is the second week in a row onyxia has died while in the air and unable to loot.
and for some reason the help tab is just blacked out by blizzard and unable to make a ticket to claim the loot. gg bliz. [email protected]#$%ingg
